Adventures in Capitalism
by Lee

One more thing:  following the initiative recently promoted by Instapundit, I’m going to be incorporating BlogAds into the website.  I was going to do something along these lines myself, but to be honest it’s too much work to keep organized.  I’d rather just let BlogAds do it for me.

I’m thinking of starting at $10 a month.  So, if you’re a blogger and want to plug your site, this would be a pretty inexpensive way to do so.  More details as they emerge.

Free For All
by Lee

I’m off to a party this afternoon, so blogging will be light.  I received an email from a Michael Moore fan today, however, that I plan on fisking to death when I get home.  For now, however, please use the comments to this post to discuss anything you like.

But first, check this out, and plan to be jealous of Sondra K.

The Error of Thy Ways
by Lee

This man’s story, of an Islamofascist terrorist who repented his ways, makes for fascinating reading.

In 1993 I asked the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to reveal to me whether the Bible was indeed corrupted as I was taught or if it were the truth and the Koran was the false document, Shoebat said. Through parallel study of the Bible and the Koran he soon came to a logical crossroads: Either the Jews had indeed changed the scripture because how could God be on the side of evil people, or the Koran was false, and I was the evil one, Shoebat recalled. I then decided to examine the history from both sides to weigh each sides. It was then that I began to see the spiritual link between the Jewish people and their land.

Slowly a change overcame the veteran Jihadist. After reading the Hebrew Bible, about all of the righteous wars of Israel from biblical times until the present it dawned on me, said Shoebat. How could it be that Allah is the true God if the Six-Day-War in 1967 resulted the greatest victory for the Jews since Joshuas encirclement of Jericho. Whats more is that Israels victory unlike Muslim conquests full of rape, pillaging and massacre brought freedom for all peoples and religions. Everyone [his fellow Arabs living in Jericho at the time ed.] saw and everyone remembers this but unfortunately people today deny the truth of what they.

Shoebat decided at that point to turn away from the path of terrorism and Jihad. I woke up my wife and said Maria I think I was wrong to try to convert you to Islam.

And he has a chilling warning for the West.

What the West does not understand about Islam, Shoebat said on Tovia Singers radio broadcast, is that Jihad has stages. If Muslims have the upper hand then Jihad is waged by force. If Muslims dont have the upper hand then Jihad is waged through financial and political means. Since Muslims do not have the upper hand in America or Europe, they talk about peace while supporting Hamas and Hezballah. The whole idea of Islam being a peaceful religion emanates from that silent stage of Jihad.”

Read the whole thing.

The Stark Reality
by Lee

He may be spending like a drunken Kennedy, but Bush is still getting my vote.  This is why.  Andrew Sullivan has dug up this illuminating quote from likely Democratic nominee John “I Served in Vietnam” Kerry, and it’s truly horrifying.

The war on terror is less—it is occasionally military, and it will be, and it will continue to be for a long time. And we will need the best-trained and the most well-equipped and the most capable military, such as we have today.

But it’s primarily an intelligence and law enforcement operation that requires cooperation around the world - the very thing this administration is worst at. And most importantly, the war on terror is also an engagement in the Middle East economically, socially, culturally, in a way that we haven’t embraced, because otherwise we’re inviting a clash of civilizations.

And I think this administration’s arrogant and ideological policy is taking America down a more dangerous path. I will make America safer than they are.

There you have it.  If you liked Bill Clinton’s foreign policy then vote for Kerry.  Bush, for all his faults as a president, will get my vote for no other reason than this.  The thought of John Kerry, who served in Vietnam, being in charge of defending this country is a horrifying thought indeed.

Cooking While Blogging
by Lee

Ugh.  So for some reason I had a hankering for fish and chips tonight.  So I got home, prepared some fish, put some oil on the stove, and sat down to blog while it heated up.  I then promptly forgot about it.  I was shocked back into reality by the smoke billowing from my kitchen from the smoking pan of oil.  I ran in and grabbed the pan, and some of the oil popped out onto my wrist, scalding me, which made me drop the pan into the sink, which caused the oil to hit the water in the bottom of the sink, which caused the oil to splash all over the countertop and even more smoke to billow out of the kitchen.  Everything is okay now, except my apartment is so full of smoke I could barely see the other side of the living room.  The sliding glass door to my balcony is full open right now, which sucks because it’s about 42 degrees out there now.

Damn my wrist hurts.

Unbelievable!
by Lee

Believe it or not, there is an episode of the Simpsons on right now that I have never seen!

Update: And now the episode is on where Krusty runs for Congress as a Republican.  I love the episodes where they show the Springfield Republican party.  The one where Bob Dole reads from the Necronomicon is priceless.

Eurabia
by Lee

Not wanting to be outdone by France, the Islamification of Britain continues unabated.

Attendance at Britain’s mosques has outstripped the number of regular worshippers in the Church of England for the first time, media reported on Sunday.

Figures compiled from government and academic sources show that 930,000 Muslims attend a place of worship at least once a week, as against 916,000 Anglicans, The Sunday Times reported.

Muslim leaders said that it was a landmark in the rise of Islam in Britain and that Muslims must receive a share of the Church of England’s privileged status.

The radical Islamofascists, 9/11 notwithstanding, know that they cannot defeat the west militarily, but they can use western openness to their favor, and breed their way to a majority from the inside. Allahu Akbar!

Nothing to Hide?
by Lee

If Bush is a man with nothing to hide, why isn’t he acting like it?

President Bush said Friday “I want to know the facts” about any intelligence failures concerning Saddam Hussein’s alleged cache of forbidden weapons but he declined to endorse calls for an independent investigation.

The issue of an independent commission has blossomed into an election-year problem for the president, with Democrats and Republicans alike supporting the idea. Former chief weapons inspector David Kay has concluded that Iraq did not possess weapons of mass destruction, which Bush had cited as a rationale for going to war against Iraq.

Bush said he wants to be able to compare the administration’s prewar intelligence with what will be learned by inspectors who are now searching for weapons in Iraq. There is no deadline for those inspectors, the Iraq Survey Group, to complete their work.

“One thing is for certain, one thing we do know ... that Saddam Hussein was a danger, he was growing danger,” the president told reporters during a brief question and answer session after a meeting with economists.

Yeah, Georgie, we know that.  You don’t have to convince the public of the righteousness of the invasion, we’re all behind you on that.  But we also want to know what the hell happened to make the intelligence you used so utterly, monumentally wrong.  It doesn’t seem like you care, and that makes you appear exactly how your opponents are trying to portray you, as a man with something to hide.

This, in my opinion, is a big enough issue to sink Bush in November.  He needs to get on the offensive, and do so NOW, if he wants to be able to get any traction.

Boycott Anti-Semitic Leftists
by Lee

Many of you undoubtedly unaware of this, but if you type www.boycottisraeligoods.com into your browser you will be redirected to this site.  About a year ago I was contacted by the original owner of that domain.  He told me that he had registered it specificallly to prevent anti-semitic leftist jerkoffs from doing so, but for one reason or another he was unable to maintain the domain, and wanted to know if I would take it over, so that anyone looking for info on boycotting Israeli goods would end up right here at good old Right-Thinking.  I of course jumped at the chance.  I’m blogging on this because I received an email this morning from some asshat who was upset that he went to the wrong website.

I got to your site when I typed boycottisraeligoods.com into my browser, forgetting that the site I wanted was a .org.  Isn’t a bit shady, sneaky, and underhanded to buy up the domain names similar to those of sites with which you disagree so that you can annoy people trying to find them?  And isn’t it pretty damn petty as well?

Here’s my emailed response in its entirety.

Hi Andrew.  My answer to you?  Fuck off and die, you terrorist-supporting, anti-semitic scumbag.

What an asshole.

Disgraceful Teenagers
by Lee

Don’t these girls get it?

Seven teenagers, imbued with spunk and perseverance, have accomplished what movie operators, developers and politicians could not: They’ve landed a 12-screen cinema for downtown Petaluma.

Fulfilling a longshot dream born one lazy November afternoon in 2001, the seven girls have persuaded a local developer to build a movie complex downtown. That will give teens a bit of independence when they want to take in the latest film fantasy—instead of relying on parents to ferry them back and forth to theaters in nearby cities, they’ll be able to just walk down the block. ...

Petaluma, a city of 54,000, has suffered a cinematic void since the spring of 2001, when Los Angeles-based Pacific Theaters closed the eight- screen Petaluma Cinemas. Since Cinema West—which will operate the new complex—shuttered its five-screen theater the year before, Petalumans had to head to Rohnert Park, Santa Rosa or Novato to see a movie.

No more. The $9 million, 1,400-seat theater on the corner of Petaluma Boulevard and C Street will cover about 30,000 square feet, said White, president of Basin Street Properties, a prominent Petaluma development firm that has revitalized much of Petaluma’s historic core and is taking on the project. Four theaters dedicated to showing films from independent producers will be housed in an existing brick building, which sported cutouts of the Terminator, Elvis, Sylvester Stallone and other movie idols for Thursday’s ceremony. Another eight screens for Hollywood ventures will be enclosed in the building to be constructed.

“Communities throughout California have found downtown theaters attract foot traffic and help revitalize the downtown,” said Dave Corkill, owner of Cinema West.

These girls have it all backwards.  When you want to accomplish something you do NOT go about it this way.  What they should have done was appealed to their local elected representatives, who should have passed a law requiring any movie theater wanting to do business in the country to build a complex in downtown Petaluma.  That, my friends, is the way that you get things done!  I mean, what did these girls do?  They went to a developer (Boo!  Hiss!) and explained to them why it was in their economic interests (Greed!) to build a theater in the area.  The tactic shown by these girls smacks of rugged individualism, capitalism, and communal benefit through individual self-interest.  It’s just disgusting the way these girls got exactly what they wanted by unleashing the awesome power of the free market.

This is NOT the way that activism is supposed to take place! I mean, if these girls can get what they want by utilizing market forces and bypassing their elected officials, what is to stop more people from doing so?  Pretty soon there won’t be much of a need for local government!

The horror…

John Howard = Hitler
by Lee

More crushing of dissent in Australia.

TWO peace activists who painted No War on the Sydney Opera House were today sentenced to nine months periodic detention.

David Burgess, 33, and Will Saunders, 42, were convicted late last year of malicious damage after painting No War on the tallest sail of the Opera House on March 18, 2003.

NSW District Court Judge Anthony Blackmore today sentenced the pair to nine months weekend jail and ordered they jointly pay $111,000 compensation to the Sydney Opera House Trust.

Earlier in today’s proceedings the pair handed over a cheque for $40,000 to the trust.

The pair painted the slogan on the Sydney landmark in a protest against Australia’s involvement in the war in Iraq. Judge Blackmore said it did not matter whether the graffiti was done to make a political statement, it was still malicious damage.

What?  You mean that having leftist political beliefs does not give you carte blanche to vandalize property and defy the law?  Horrifying!  Only in fascist Australia would this take place!  How can this happen?  Is John Ashcroft also the AG of Australia?  FASCISM!  FASCISM!

A Toe for an Eye
by Lee

Those bloodthirsty Jews show us once again their fascist, genocidal ways!

Israeli forces briefly raided the West Bank town of Bethlehem on Friday and dynamited the home of a Palestinian who blew up a Jerusalem bus - stopping far short of a large-scale reprisal customary after a deadly suicide attack.

Israel’s leadership was divided over how hard to hit back but appeared to have decided on a measured response after a meeting Thursday between Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz.

In the Gaza Strip, the Islamic militant Hamas group belatedly claimed responsibility Friday for the bombing, which killed 10 Israelis and wounded more than 50. A rival faction linked the Yasser Arafat’s Fatah movement initially said it sent the bomber.

Let us recap.  A Palestinian Islamofascist blows up an Israeli bus full of innocent people.  In return, the Israeli military limits itself to a specific target, in this case the house of the suicide bomber.  Now, it should be blatantly obvious to anyone which side here is more interested in peace and which wants nothing more than to kill the other.  You can’t even call this an eye for an eye.

CIA Follies
by Lee

More on the intelligence failure issue.

“They’ve made a pretty huge mess of it,” said one senior Republican who has been talking to Bush’s top advisers about what steps they should take next. “They wove this giant story, based on intelligence assessments that in hindsight - and this is hindsight, remember - were wrong.

“It’s exposed a huge problem in our intelligence gathering. But who wants to take that on in an election year? Or while you are fighting terrorists?”

White House officials will not talk at length about why they are so deeply hesitant to launch an investigation. But they are facing a situation in which Democrats are looking for evidence to blame Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, and some Republicans are looking for evidence to blame George Tenet, the director of central intelligence.

I wouldn’t directly blame Tenet for the problems, they’ve been there for years.  What I do blame Tenet for is not using the momentum of the post-9/11 overhaul to rectify the situation.  There was a massive failure—two massive failures—on his watch, and we need some fresh blood in there.

Bush has publicly defended the “unbelievably hard-working, dedicated people” of the U.S. intelligence community in part, some administration officials say, because he wants to avoid another bitter, public dispute with Tenet and the intelligence community.

My answer to that?  Tough tittie.  The issue here is not to avoid upsetting the intelligence bureaucracy which failed us, it’s to overhaul that bureaucracy so that they don’t fail us again.

Gwyneth Goes Home
by Lee

Asshat celebrities always love to tout the benefits of government, until, it seems, that it affects their life.

Pregnant actress Gwyneth Paltrow has been scared off giving birth in a British hospital, thanks to her famous pal Madonna. The stunning Sylvia star - who is expecting her first child with rocker husband Chris Martin - is now shunning the prospect of entering a London hospital on the special day after Madonna reportedly relayed terrifying stories of medical blunders to her. And the Material Girl hitmaker, who caused outrage when she labeled British hospitals “old and Victorian” while pregnant with son Rocco, evidently had an influential effect on Gwyneth - the screen beauty’s now decided to give birth at her motherBlythe’s Hollywood home. A source tells Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper, “Madonna told her all these horror stories about how bad the English hospitals are. So now she has decided to give birth in Los Angeles. She has always wanted a home birth so she didn’t think it would make much difference where she had it. But Madonna, who had lots of complications with son Rocco, told her that if something went wrong America would be the best place to be.”

Socialism.  It’s great for everyone but celebrities, isn’t it?  Not bad for the world’s 72nd best health care system.  Somehow Paltrow managed to look past the violence, oppression, and “over-patriotic atmosphere” here in fascist America.
