Right Thinking From The Left Coast
The Government is merely a servant -- merely a temporary servant; it cannot be its prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a patriot and who isn't. Its function is to obey orders, not originate them. - Mark Twain

Registration Issues
by Lee

A number of you have written me today because when you go to register you’re getting an error saying that the username and/or email are not available.  The old registrations from the previous site were imported into this one.  So, if you registered at the old site as a user named “Cockdonkey” and then forgot about it, when you go to register as “Cockdonkey” today you’re going to get the error that that name is unavailable, because you already registered it.

So, the solution to the problem is for you to just try logging in.  If you can’t remember your password, or you’re having some other issues, shoot me an email.  Otherwise you should be good to go.

Too Sick For Words
by Lee

You know, you really have to be one sick, depraved bastard to do something like this.

Six puppies were killed, apparently by fireworks placed in their mouths, shortly after teenage boys were seen carrying Roman candles in a north Tulsa neighborhood.

Animal control officers said they were following leads Tuesday but had no suspects in Sunday night’s attacks, during which one person told police they heard a puppy yelp.

An older dog, a 41/2-month-old black Labrador mix, suffered burns on her muzzle and hindquarters from apparently being used as a moving target for fireworks.

The Tulsa Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was caring for the injured dog and for the puppies’ mother, a 11/2-year-old black-and-tan heeler mix that was not harmed.

The injured dog had begun to eat and was expected to survive, said Laurie Myers, executive director of the Tulsa SPCA.

The SPCA believes the puppies died from fireworks that exploded in their mouths.

When I was a kid if I had done something like this my dad would have beat the shit out of me.  And I don’t mean than in a metaphorical sense, either, I mean he would have physically beat me with his fists.  Not that I would have done something so despicable, of course, but if I had the wrath of my father would have been a sight to behold.

Undoubtedly, when these children are caught, their parents will make excuses for them, and they’ll be sent into counselling, where they can talk about their feeeeeeelings and their insecurities and blame it all on anyone but themselves, when the simple fact is that these are kids with lousy parents who raised them without a shred of morality or decency.

Want to know what kind of soldiers end up working at Abu Ghraib?  Here’s your answer.

Update Okay, seriously, what the hell is wrong with people?

Police say the 9-1-1 call from Portland’s Marshall Park neighborhood Sunday afternoon sounded beyond belief: A guy driving a green Subaru Outback, dragging two bloodied and panting dogs down the street.

turned out to be true, police say.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m., officers found Sean A. MacComb standing next to his car in a driveway in the 10700 block of Southwest 11th Drive. Two cablelike leashes and dog collars covered with “a copious amount of blood” were still attached to the back bumper, police say.

The two adult dogs, a black Labrador-Rottweiler mix and a brown mastiff-shepherd mix, are expected to survive their injuries. They were being held at the Multnomah County animal shelter in Troutdale.

MacComb faces a felony aggravated animal assault charge, and misdemeanor charges of second-degree animal assault and driving under the influence, police said.

I hope this guy gets gang-raped in prison, I really do.  I hope he’s in so much pain he can’t sit down for a month.  I hope he needs 30 stitches to repair the tearing.  Because only then will he begin to understand a fraction of the horror and pain he caused those two animals.

Dude, Where’s My Iraq?
by Lee

Well-heeled western liberals and Michael Moore fans might not understand President Bush’s Middle East strategy, but the terrorists do.  An authenticated al Qaeda “strategy document” lays out the organization’s plan for Iraq.

“We consider that the Spanish government cannot suffer more than two to three strikes before pulling out (of Iraq) under pressure from its own people,” said the document obtained Wednesday by AFP from Raido France International’s regional office in Beirut.

“If these (Spanish) forces remain after the strikes, the victory of the socialist party would be near-guaranteed and the pullout of Spanish forces from Iraq would be on its agenda,” said the document, distributed ahead of the March 11 attacks in Madrid.

Socialist Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, elected after the train bombings in Madrid which left 191 people dead in Spain’s worst ever terrorist attack, withdrew Spanish troops from the troubled country in May.

So, their strategy worked, as we all know.  And what of the rest of the coalition?

A lengthy chapter of the document focuses on “the main allies of the United States in their aggression against Iraq: Britain, Italy, Poland and Spain, as well as some Arab countries.” ...

It called for striking US forces in Iraq on a daily basis in order to force them “to disperse on the territory, weaken their efficiency and strike the morale of the soldiers.”

“The operations should be concentrated on the Arab Sunni sector… (given) the absence of motives for the explosion of the situation in the Shiite southern regions and the Kurdish north,” it said.

The booklet, presented as a handbook for the “Mujahedeen,” called on the “Iraqi resistance (to form) a movement which gathers the factions of the Jihad… and unite in the same objective, as currently they are not united in the same organisation.”

“The Mujahedeens in Iraq should now concentrate on the complete pullout of all foreign forces from all Iraqi territory,” it said.

In other words, they will commit acts of terrorism in order to weaken and demoralize US resolve to see the job through.  But the most telling aspect of the article, for me, came right at the end.

It said the US plan was “to build an Iraqi state as conceived by the United States...and enslave Saudi Arabia politically, fight against Islamic proselytism as a salafist and jihadic movement.”

“This would be (for the US) the first step toward the eradication of hardline Islam in the entire world,” it said.

This is what conservatives have been saying all along, that Iraq was simply the first step in the overall task of modernizing the Middle East and destroying Islamism.  This idea has, as usual, been poo-pooed by the left-wing intelligentsia, but as you can see here, the terrorists understand what is at stake.  A free Iraq, with free-flowing oil, means less money and power and influence for Saudi Arabia.  (You know Saudi Arabia, the country that Michael Moore says Bush is beholden to.) A free Iraq and a weak Saudi Arabia gives America and the rest of the free world an excellent vantage point from which to “fight against Islamic proselytism as a salafist and jihadic movement.”

This is why the invasion of Iraq was and still is so essential to the broader war on terror.  It is “the first step toward the eradication of hardline Islam in the entire world.”

Salafist movements are what Daniel Pipes refers to as Islamist, essentially being a form of theological fascism based upon a perverted form of Islam.  This is what al Qaeda is fighting for.  Lefties might not get it, but the bad guys do, and they’re willing to fight to the death.  The only way to win is to kill them first.

I’m thinking of requiring registration on the site before people can post comments, similar to what we do at MOOREWATCH.  This will cut down on the trolls and make it easier for me to ban people when necessary.

Your thoughts?

Update: Okay, it’s done.  In order to post you need to register.  Let’s see if this helps things.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

A Lesser Infidel
by Lee

Now this is an interesting development.  You know that Marine currnetly being held prisoner by the Islamists?  It looks like he may have been UA.

The military thinks Marine Cpl. Wassef Ali Hassoun, now listed as captured, initially left his base in Iraq on unauthorized leave, a Pentagon official said Tuesday.

A senior Defense Department official said Hassoun, who did not report to duty on June 20, might have been trying to reach his family in Lebanon and left his base under his own free will. ...

Shortly after his disappearance, Hassoun’s family was notified he was missing, but there was no public announcement, the Pentagon official said, because the military did not want to signal insurgents that a Marine might be out in the countryside unprotected.

The military and the family made the announcement about the status change at a news conference in Hassoun’s hometown of West Jordan, Utah, on Tuesday night.

“The Marine Corps have officially notified the family that Wassef’s status of desertion is being revoked and has been changed to captured,” family spokesman Tarek Nosseir said.

Now, obviously this really doesn’t change much in the long run.  But it does explain how he was able to be captured, and should serve as an example to everyone.  This guy, apparently, thought that because he was of Arabic descent he would be safe.  Well, he’ll probably end up beheaded for thinking so.  Lest anyone think that they are any less infidel, be warned.

Go, Ralph, Go!
by Lee

I have no idea whether this actually violates the law, but it’s pretty funny nonetheless.

A watchdog group says it will file a complaint accusing two conservative organizations of illegally helping Ralph Nader’s presidential campaign, possibly with support from President Bush’s re-election campaign.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington planned to file its complaint today with the Federal Election Commission. It says the Oregon Family Council and Citizens for a Sound Economy violated election laws last week by telephoning people and urging them to help Nader get on Oregon’s November ballot.

Spokesmen for both groups denied wrongdoing.

The groups admit trying to influence Nader’s petition drive Saturday, in hopes that getting him on the ballot would siphon votes from Democrat John Kerry.

But Melanie Sloan, the watchdog group’s executive director, said Tuesday that the organizations are also corporations that are prohibited by election law from making campaign donations.

This sounds a little thin to me.

It’s All About the Oil
by Lee

From Iraqi blogger Iraq the Model.

I was on duty-call in the hospital all yesterday and I was in the ward when I heard the news that Mr. Bremer had already transferred the power to the new government two days ahead of the expected date. I was so happy about this news and I couldn’t wait until I finish my tour to celebrate the occasion.

My friends all seemed thrilled and optimistic, yet they seemed to have no interset in celebrating the event. I decided to do something so I asked one of my colleagues to cover for me for an hour; I told him that I have to get something from outside.I directly headed to the nearest bakery and ordered a nice cake and returned to the hospital as fast as I could. On the way, I didn’t see any large calibrations but I noticed that the streets were busier than usual and people looked lively and relaxed.

I invited some of my friends, one of us volunteered to get some beverages and we gathered around the cake to celebrate the happy event. I took some pictures but sadly not all the doctors (female mainly) agreed on me posting their pictures and I’ll respect their will.

Some of us were celebrating regaining sovereignty, some were celebrating the end of occupation, others were happy because they think the new government will bring safety and order. I was celebrating a new and a great step towards democracy, but we were all joined by true hope for a better future and by the love we have for Iraq.

After wards we sat for a while discussing different matters. The hall was busy and everyone was chatting and laughing loud. They had Al-Jazeera on (something I never managed to convince them to stop doing). Then suddenly Mr. Bremer appeared on TV reading his last speech before he left Iraq. I approached the TV to listen carefully to the speech, as I expected it to be difficult in the midst of all that noise. To my surprise everyone stopped what they were doing and started watching as attentively as I was.

The speech was impressive and you could hear the sound of a needle if one had dropped it at that time. The most sensational moment was the end of the speech when Mr. Bremer used a famous Arab emotional poem. The poem was for a famous Arab poet who said it while leaving Baghdad. Al-Jazeera had put an interpreter who tried to translate even the Arabic poem which Mr. Bremer was telling in a fair Arabic! “Let this damned interpreter shut up. We want to hear what the man is saying” One of my colloquies shouted. The scene was very touching that the guy sitting next to me (who used to sympathize with Muqtada) said “He’s going to make me cry!”

Then he finished his speech by saying in Arabic,”A’ash Al-Iraq, A’ash Al-Iraq, A’ash Al-Iraq”! (Long live Iraq, Long live Iraq, long live Iraq).

I was deeply moved by this great man’s words but I couldn’t prevent myself from watching the effect of his words on my friends who some of them were anti-Americans and some were skeptic, although some of them have always shared my optimism. I found that they were touched even more deeply than I was. I turned to one friend who was a committed She’at and who distrusted America all the way. He looked as if he was bewitched, and I asked him, “So, what do you think of this man? Do you still consider him an invader?” My friend smiled, still touched and said, “Absolutely not! He brought tears to my eyes. God bless him.”

Another friend approached me. This one was not religious but he was one of the conspiracy theory believers. He put his hands on my shoulders and said smiling, “I must admit that I’m beginning to believe in what you’ve been telling us for months and I’m beginning to have faith in America. I never thought that they will hand us sovereignty in time. These people have shown that they keep their promises.”

Think about this, Moore fans.  If Mike had his way these people would still be being thrown feet-first into the plastic shredder, their children would still be having their feet smashed with hammers in front of their parents, and who knows how many people would disappear into unmarked graves.

But, of course, we could have gotten another worthless UN resolution and waited another 20 or 30 years.  The Iraqi people would still be suffering, but at least well-heeled western leftists would feel better about themselves.

A Coupla Thangs
by Lee

A few of you have mailed me about some issues with the site.  First, the blogroll is gone.  No, I haven’t decided to delete it.  To be completely honest, Jim and I totally forgot to put it back in there.  I let Jim know about it, and it will be back as soon as he gets around to sticking it back in there.

Second issue is your login info not being remembered.  Just so you’ll know, this is happening to me, too.  Apparently it is an issue with the blog software and the fact that we’re currently accessing the site through the IP number.  In a day or so, when the new DNS has finished propagating throughout the internet, we’ll get this fixed.

Like Bartles and Jaymes said in the 1980s, we thank you for your support.

Gainful Employment
by Lee

The good revererend has finally found a job he’s actually qualified to do.

Al Sharpton, who failed in his last bid for a new job - president of the United States - now has a job on a reality TV show that guides people on career makeovers. Spike TV, the Viacom cable channel that targets a young male audience, said Sharpton will host ``I Hate My Job,’’ premiering in the fall.

``I like the concept of trying to have people discover their purpose in life, and not have the world define them or settle for less than who they want to be just to pay their bills,’’ Sharpton said Tuesday.

The eight male contestants in the show will quit their jobs and work with two ``life counselors,’’ Sharpton and California psychologist Stephanie Raye, who will give them advice and weekly assignments. A panel will decide which contestants will continue each week.

``Reverend Sharpton came from a modest upbringing and became a major political force and presidential candidate,’’ said Kevin Kay, Spike’s executive vice president for programming. ``He’s lived the American dream so he’s the perfect person for our eight contestants to learn from.’’

Hmmm.  Sharpton is a loudmouth, anti-semitic racist opportunist hack.  I can’t think of anyone more appropriate to host a reality TV show.

Diddling the Kiddies
by Lee

Once again we have a case of a female teacher sleeping with her teenage student.

A 23-year-old middle-school teacher was charged with having sex with a 14-year-old student in a classroom, at her apartment and, once, in a vehicle while the teen’s 15-year-old cousin drove.

Detectives said that the cousins provided matching statements incriminating Debra Beasley Lafave and that the 14-year-old described Lafave’s apartment and her tattoos and birthmarks.

Lafave, who teaches reading in the Tampa suburb of Temple Terrace, was arrested there last week on lewd and lascivious battery charges, accused of having sex with the teen earlier this month at her apartment and in a portable classroom at Greco Middle School.

Now, take a look at how hot this chick is.

What the hell is wrong with these women?  And why would they rather do a teenage boy than, say, oh, me?

The Common Good
by Lee

Hillary has more balls than John Kerry.  At least Hillary will admit that the Democrats are going to raise your taxes.

Headlining an appearance with other Democratic women senators on behalf of Sen. Barbara Boxer, who is up for re-election this year, Hillary Clinton told several hundred supporters—some of whom had ponied up as much as $10,000 to attend—to expect to lose some of the tax cuts passed by President Bush if Democrats win the White House and control of Congress.

“Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you,” Sen. Clinton said. “We’re saying that for America to get back on track, we’re probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.”

Take some things away from you on behalf of the common good.  Spoken like a true Marxist.
