Remember those promises of transparent government back during the election cycle?

Well, I think we can clearly state they were bullshitting us, and doing so hard. The stories, despite the MSM’s lack of interest, are numerous and paint a frightening picture of incompetence and plain old fashioned tyrannical abuse. We have the latest revelation about how Janet Napolitano’s DHS machine has completely politicized and corrupted the FOIA request process, turning it into a political exercise as to who gets access or not, with partisan political employees attempting to steal evidence - under ridiculous pretenses nevertheless - and even tampering with the process and witnesses in an attempt to conceal their clearly objectionable partisan behavior. DHS’s response?

Republican bad: Donkeys good.

That’s basically what all the hubbub from the usual MSM suspects and president Obama’s own speech tell us now. Iraq was wrong for all the right reasons. Now those reasons are right for Libya. Except we are doing it half assed, while denying to be doing it at all, and hoping it works out. And while Obama and his leftist apologists now are wasting millions on this adventure - that’s how the left referred to fighting anywhere by the US until recently - to get the Europeans their oil, of all things, we are blocked from getting our own here at home! At least Obama’s big bullshit speech didn’t piss off my wife which watches this nonsense.

What me worry?

Certainly not me, and certainly not because one of the world’s most prolific and pro-terrorist governments, one obsessed with getting nuclear weapons at the expense of their people’s future, puts out a video telling all the Madhi is almost here.

New evidence has emerged that the Iranian government sees the current unrest in the Middle East as a signal that the Mahdi--or Islamic messiah--is about to appear. CBN News has obtained a never-before-seen video produced by the Iranian regime that says all the signs are moving into place—and that Iran will soon help usher in the end times. While the revolutionary movements gripping the Middle East have created uncertainty throughout the region, the video shows that the Iranian regime believes the chaos is divine proof that their ultimate victory is at hand.

‘The Coming is Near’

The propaganda footage has reportedly been approved at the highest levels of the Iranian government.

For those that don’t know, that Madhi fella is supposed to show up to warn us about Armageddon. The tools running Iran seem to feel when the Madhi shows up he will be on their side, and that Iran will be the new center of paradise on earth. Considering it might end up glowing in the dark for the travesty these evil people would inflict on mankind that’s funny to me. And I should also point out that these fanatics forget the people in Iran are just as pissed at them as these others they claim are agitating against their governments elsewhere are, leaving one to conclude that Iran ain’t going to fare any better than they all will.

The video claims that Iran is destined to rise as a great power in the last days to help defeat America and Israel and usher in the return of the Mahdi. And it makes clear the Iranians believe that time is fast approaching.

Considering the bible claims that the anti-Christ will fight against Israel and Christian forces, one has to wonder how to take this revelation by the Iranian government. I would love to get an explanation of what role they see for themselves and Islam after this pronouncement that Israel is the enemy the Madhi comes to fight, especially when Islam claims Jesus as a prophet and both the Torah and the Bible as holy.

Maybe I am not as familiar with the Quaran, but if it actually says the Madhi will come to stand against Israel, shouldn’t that raise a few eyebrows amongst everyone that understands what religions or nations the Iranian leadership claims Islam will face off against in the end of times? Whether you are religious and/or a believer in this stuff or not, this should make you wonder WTF is going on with the Iranian leadership and their boner for the “End of times” type conflicts. Methinks these tools should be taken seriously when they say crazy shit like this.

Update: I think we found the anti-Christ.

Chavez has lobbied in recent weeks against what he calls the evils of capitalism, including alcoholism, breast implants and violent television programs.

Anyone that’s against breast implants and TV has got to be evil.

Some perspective on what’s going on

Well, now we know what kinds of wars demcorats approve off: undefined conflicts led by committee better known in military terms as Charley Foxtrot (cluster fuck) operations, that have no define purpose or end, and most important of all, that wastes ton of tax payer dollars with no discernable return. In short, the left hates any conflict that serves real American interests, don’t get approval from the liberal elite committee, but unlike when the left -their MSM mouth pieces - made a big deal out of a carrier carrying a banner declaring it’s mission completed when Bush went there, now we are getting smoke blown up our ass and the MSM goes along.

We are being assured there is also no plan to go into Syria, a conflict that looks to address more US strategic interests considering how deep Assad’s Iranian boyfriends have their thing planted up Syria’s crack, by them. Considering how fast they flip-flopped on not going into Libya, one should take this with a grain of salt. These leftists love stretching our military thin on meaningless adventures while doing their best to leave them both ill equipped and with as many restrictions as possible to make the job as hard as it can be. I would not be Obama starts another war considering people are saying he has acted like a doofus and they feel he lacks what it takes to lead. He has something to prove before the 2012 election. Maybe even have a war he can then claim he walked away from! In the mean time they continue to bleed America dry on all fronts. I seriously keep going back between they are just inept and fanatically stupid about their ideas, and hence unable to see the damage they cause, or that they are doing this all on purpose. Either way, they are destructive and we will pay the price for letting them have power.

In the mean time we see what the country would look like with Biden as president. Best guarantee that we will not have some lunatic ever try to kill Obama. Whomever picked Biden as VP was a genius.

More economy crushing ideas from the left.

In this case the desperate bloated machine, frantically looking at increasing their revenue stream at a time when the productive in America are already feeling like they are being robbed at gunpoint, is considering the “brilliant” idea of taxing mileage:

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) this week released a report that said taxing people based on how many miles they drive is a possible option for raising new revenues and that these taxes could be used to offset the costs of highway maintenance at a time when federal funds are short. The report discussed the proposal in great detail, including the development of technology that would allow total vehicle miles traveled (VMT) to be tracked, reported and taxed, as well as the pros and cons of mandating the installation of this technology in all vehicles.

If you still doubt that these nannies want to control your behavior, especially limit your average American’s mobility, no matter what the economic consequences of adding another tax to transportation which is essential to practically every aspect of our economy, take a look at this idiotic idea. This would impact the trucking industry, forcing the cost to be passed on and thus resulting in rises in prices in practically everything that needs to be moved. Be prepared to pay more for food, for mail that doesn’t depend on government to be moved – I am sure the post office will be exempt – and for every other item you buy in a store that doesn’t get the item out of their backyard.

And what about people that drive to work? If you choose to live in suburbia to avoid the usual bullshit that comes along with urban life, you now are going to be penalized for doing so. It’s no secret that the left loves the big cities. This is where you find their biggest voter block resides, usually living off the fruits of other people’s had work, and they obviously would love more of that. I now think that I have some understanding where Obama’s fascination with high speed railways might be coming from. The left must already believe it is going to successfully tax all us peons into living in giant concrete cities with idiotic ideas like this. Get us all to depend on these idiotic mass transit systems to move around. Not to mention the powerful unions they could then get to help funnel them more campaign contributions.

What they should do is tax the global warmists that tell us we should all use Obama’s stupid rail system while themselves having the carbon footprints of one of the urban areas. You start slamming Al Gore and Pelosi with some decent taxes for their luxury travels, and you are going to get some big money. Leave us people alone. Oh yeah, and cut that bloated welfare state and the giant government machine that depends on it. You won’t need to tax another one of our freedoms into extinction then.

Not a week old and already falling apart?

Dang. Looks like Obama’s coalition is falling apart. The one put together to do regime change in Libya. I know the MSM isn’t going to use that word because then it might leave them with egg on their face. Considering the ruckus they caused when Bush said the same about Saddam back when, it is no surprise that now they don’t say that’s what Obama and the UN committee are doing in Libya to Gaddafi.

Deep divisions between allied forces currently bombing Libya worsened today as the German military announced it was pulling forces out of NATO over continued disagreement on who will lead the campaign. A German military spokesman said it was recalling two frigates and AWACS surveillance plane crews from the Mediterranean, after fears they would be drawn into the conflict if NATO takes over control from the U.S. The infighting comes as a heated meeting of NATO ambassadors yesterday failed to resolve whether the 28-nation alliance should run the operation to enforce a U.N.-mandated no-fly zone, diplomats said.

Heh, did the Germans just admit they believe the UN is as idiotic as I know they are? The regime change by committee thing must not suit them well. I had to laugh at this other revelation, though.

Meanwhile the head of the Italian Senate’s defence affairs committee, Gianpiero Cantoni, said the original French anti-NATO stance was motivated by a desire to secure oil contracts with a future Libyan government.

Heh! France is after oil? NO WAY!

Here is a prediction: these idiots fuck this up and Obama and the US are blamed when Gaddafi goes back to his old terrorist ways with a vengeance.

Update: Gaddafi already found way around the attacks.

Obama’s Abu Ghraib cum Gitmo combined..

Like the heading of this post shows it now looks like the Obama Admin now has it’s own problems with troops doing things that would have set the left off during the Bush years. Most of the MSM, unlike back when, are not trying to pin these despicable acts on the guy in the WH - including the fact that the WH has been trying real hard to keep the story buried since the 2009 incident took place - but is playing Ostrich. In fact the few cases when the MSM is reporting on this it is to discriminate the lefty talking points and try and absolve this WH from the despicable treatment they gave the previous attendants for much of the same. Yes you morons, these photos are not going to get the 24/7 coverage you gave anything you could turn into a negative for the US and Bush back when, but they are going to still be far more damaging considering this happened under the Nobel Peace prize winner now bombing another Arab nation. Go figure. Oh how I love schadenfreude!

Oh, who the fook cares?

You guys know that I do not like giving Obama any slack and think most demcorats are spawns of the devil, so I hope you realize that I am doing this because this bullshit galls even me. What am I talking about? Well, the fact that even the elite Eurotrash leadership are now bashing Obama about Libya. They are baffled about US liberals acting like them after they spent most of the last decade telling us how we should do just that!

Everybody Panic

I’ve avoided saying anything else about Japan’s nuclear situation since, every time I do, things seem to get worse.  But I have to break my silence today due to the pure hysteria of the reporting.

Japan’s nuclear and industrial safety agency on Friday raised the level for the crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant from a 4 to 5—putting it on par with the 1979 incident at Pennsylvania’s Three Mile Island.

According to the International Nuclear Events Scale, a level 5 equates to the likelihood of a release of radioactive material, several deaths from radiation and severe damage to a reactor core.

Chernobyl, for example, rated a 7 on the scale, while Japan’s other nuclear crisis—a 1999 accident at Tokaimura in which workers died after being exposed to radiation—was a 4.

In Pennsylvania, a partial meltdown of a reactor core was deemed the worst nuclear accident in U.S. history.

OMG!!!1!  It’s as bad a three-mile island!  An incident that resulted in ... no deaths from radiation.  In fact, it’s probable that the hysterical reaction to TMI caused more health effects through stress and fear than did the meltdown.

We’re my see a similar relation—more deaths from fear than radiation—emerge with Fukushima.  Media hype, for example, has prompted a run on iodine tablets in California.  Potassium iodide is not a medication you should take unless you have to, since it can have adverse health effects, especially for pregnant women.  People can and have died from allergic reactions to it.

It’s even worse in Europe, where hysterical anti-nuclear forces in Switzerland, Austria and Germany are gearing up to make sure those countries replace their nuclear plants with fuel guzzling, filth spewing fossil fuel plants.  Germany is switching off their reactors temporarily, an action which makes me think that Angela Merkel, a quantum chemist, needs to go back to university and have her head examined.

In the meantime, as Gregg Eastebrook reminds us, the media are almost hyping a potential disaster over the actual catastrophe—a massive earthquake and tsunami that’s left 10,000 dead and half a million homeless.  That’s what we should be expending our sorrow and concern over.  Here is just one story, about 30 children waiting for parents to show up—parents who may never show up because their bodies are somewhere in millions of tons of rubble.  Last night, I saw a man whose entire family—wife, kids, grandkids—was washed away.  He was trying and failing to contain his overwhelming grief.  How do a few stray isotopes compare to that kind of unthinkable tragedy multiplied on such an epic scope?  They don’t.

Meanwhile, back in reality, the nuclear situation may be improving, with power restored to at least four of the six units and water being sprayed on unit three’s spent fuel pool, the most dangerous threat the Japanese are facing due its use of plutonium.  It’s going to be a long slog and there’s still a potential for disaster.  But less hysteria and more reporting would be wise from this point on.  The fact that this disaster has been moved up on an arbitrary scale ("I give Fukushima a 5 but I can’t mutate to it.") is something that is of importance to historians and nuclear regulators.

The enviros do have one point—it is time to reconsider nuclear power.  It’s time to consider that a 40-year old archaic design has—so far—weathered one of the worst natural disasters that could be thrown at it.  It’s time to consider replacing similar reactors with more modern designs, such as pebble bed or thorium reactors.  And time to remember the real story that’s jumping out at me from the Fukushima situation—the Big Damn Heroes who are doing their best to keep this situation under control.  I have no idea what kind of civilian medals the Japanese government gives out .  But anyone risking having his gonads fried to help prevent a disaster deserves every one they can find.

Exit link: Jesse Walker on how resilient Japan is.  Contra western reports, there has been some crime and looting.  But the vast vast majority of the Japanese are helping each other out—which is what civilized people do in almost every crisis.  I have recently become extremely annoyed at the Hollywood cliche of people screaming and running whenever there is a danger.  In dangerous situations, people tend to either act calmly or freeze up.  If you can bear it, watch some footage of 9/11 and count the number of people following the Hollywood cliche.  You may not even need to take your shoes off to keep track.

The world does not work like it does in a Comac McCarthy book, no matter how much the media wishes it did.

Update: Gregg Eastebrook again.  He points out that the biggest problem in Fukushima are the cooling pools for the spent nuclear fuel, a problem we also have in this country.  Of course, we wouldn’t have as much of a problem if Obama had not, for purely political reasons, cancelled the Yucca Mountain facility, a repulsive decision I’ve previously taken him to task for.

Party of science, my radioactive ass.

Liberals show their true colors

Anytime I here some leftoid demand civility and blames the right for inciting violence or being violent, I know that what we are seeing is plain old projection. Then we have the things that happen in the real world, you know the facts that one would use to make a case, that we can then look at. In the latest incidence someone shot out the windows at Washington, D.C. Republican office. Know how I know it was a lib?

Police say the vandalism occurred Tuesday night. All of the windows of the officer were damaged. The executive director of the Republican Committee says an air gun was probably used.

They didn’t even use a real gun. This stuff happens all the time, but the MSM chooses to ignore or downplay it. Fake stories about violent Tea Partiers or demcorats being attack get massive coverage. Of course, we know the accusations against the Tea Partiers are plain old bullshit when you actually look for who is committing the violence. In fact, the left even has pretend Tea Partiers to help them win elections. And when we discover that the attacks against demcorats are insider jobs done by libs hoping to gin up a leftoid’s dream story about conservative anger and violence, if we are lucky to get a correction, it is buried somewhere so the minimal amount of people see it.

Funniest part of this brief story?

Workers believe the shooting was politically related.

Ya think?

The left is pissed that their buddies in the MSM have not been able to spread their propaganda and convince people that the disasters their actions and ideology have straddled us with and are driving us towards in the not too distant future, are all actually not problematic or actually a good thing. The American people just shellacked them in the 2010 election. And more and more people are realizing that these fools are driving us off a cliff at warp speed as they continue to bungle anything and everything they do. Hope & Change has, in the biggest display of irony possible, really turned into most of us hopping we have some change left after these bozos get through ripping us all off. The left is seeing all those fantasies of socialism winning out and dominating the next 2 or 3 generations they bandied about after the 2008 election, go up in smoke in but a short 2 years of them having power. And it drives them bananas. Expect many more angry bb gun attacks. They mean business!

No shame reporting on inflation

The usual suspects in the MSM are at it again. In this case Yahoo reports that inflation is spiking. Food prices are up because the cost of energy, whatever that entails, is up. If it wasn’t for those stupid energy costs everything would be fine too! Seriously:

WASHINGTON (AP)—Wholesale prices jumped last month by the most in nearly two years due to higher energy costs and the steepest rise in food prices in 36 years. Excluding those volatile categories, inflation was tame.

Palestinians murder Jews, and the left hides the story.

With all the news from the tragedy in Japan going on, the MSM is going to have a convenient excuse to ignore and downplay this horrible and barbaric act of murder. The murderers and their followers show us their feelings about this despicable act. Yes, these are the people NPR, which also finds itself in the news these days after some clever investigative work exposed their bias and pandering ways, is always defending. The same group of murderous bastards that the left always seem to be shilling for. If you doubt the left isn’t in their camp, check out how Facebook and YouTube quickly took down and banned the videos showing the brutal atrocity. Oh sure, they will claim it is for some clever reason, but I have no doubt that what we have here is the left covering for their friends. After all, there are lots of big check offered up to help the left stay on message by these palestinians, if they can hide the fact of course, as we recently found out in that NPR sting.

All Shook Up

We’ll keep our hopes up for the victims of today’s gigantic earthquake off the coast of Japan.  My first alert was when I was told that our Hawaii ground station might go offline because of the tsunami.

McArdle makes a good point, though:

And yet, there’s another piece of good news.  This earthquake is the worst in Japan’s known history, and it will do a lot of economic damage.  And all the evidence is that it is going to take a terrible toll in human lives.  But while the economic damage might actually be the worst in Japan’s history, that will be in large part because Japan is richer than ever before. The toll in human lives is going to be much less than something like the Great Kantō Earthquake of 1923, which cost over 100,000 lives.  Japan’s wealth means that it will suffer more economic damage, because it has more valuable stuff to lose.  But it also means that Japan has the resources to minimize the damage.

The 1995 earthquake, which caused hundreds of thousands of buildings to collapse, caused greater awareness in Japan about the inadequacy of their building codes--not even so much the modern codes, as the buildings left over from the 1960s and before.  So the Japanese have been making their buildings stronger.  But wealth also gives them immense resources to cope with the problems in affected areas: money to buy food and other emergency supplies, health care workers and engineers who can be sent into the area to treat the injured, and fix broken systems such as sewers and power.  The less of its time your workforce must spend just earning enough to feed itself, the more resources your society can throw into crises like this.  Meanwhile, of course, Japan has lots of infrastructure to get emergency workers and supplies where they’re needed, and to take people out--roads and airports and cars and all the money they need to run them.

It’s astonishing to see how a natural disaster that might cost 100,000 lives in a third world country will cost a few thousand in a first world one, even as the economic damage soars.  We have no idea how many people have been killed by this event.  But let’s just say, for the sake of argument, that Japan’s safety codes and better response will save 50,000 lives. So as the press goes on about the economic impact and how much money this is costing Japan and how’s it’s the worst earthquake ever and blahblahblah, ignore them.  At minimum, there are tens of thousands of Japanese who will live to see tomorrow who wouldn’t have without Japan’s great economy.  That’s the real story.  Nature has been throwing disasters at us for four billion years.  It’s only recently that we’ve been able—to a tiny degree—to mitigate their impact.

O’Keefe strikes again, Part Deux.. It gets better!

When I posted this NPR story where O’Keefe caught them showing their true colors I had a lot of commenters try to dismiss the importance of the story because it was O’Keefe doing the exposing. Some even tried to defend NPR by trying to say this was an isolated incident. I suspected that this being O’Keefe’s work and his tactic to take on these fools, based on how he took the leftwing MSM out at the knee cap when they came to the defense of ACORN after the first release, was to wait for the left to say this was an aberration and not representative of NPR, only to produce more damning evidence to obliterate the idiots shilling for NPR,was a highly likely scenario, and he does not disappoint.

New video released Thursday afternoon indicates National Public Radio intended to accept a $5 million donation from fictitious Muslim Brotherhood front group Muslim Education Action Center (MEAC) Trust – and that the publicly funded radio network might have helped MEAC make the donation anonymously to protect it from a federal government audit.

This stuff is unbelievable. NPR representatives tells the brotherhood thugs they likely could hide the $5 million donation from the government and then give them 10 years of propaganda for it. Just fooking WOW! How much you want to bet there is more to come, huh? If you want some advice I recommend that you libs better condemn anyone O’Keefe goes after the next time ASAP and cut your loses early, because otherwise you are all going to get screwed hard. I would love to see some more defense of NPR and pretense by the usual people that NPR isn’t biased.

I LOVE THIS!

Obama loses out to the French?

Sacre Bleu! Seriously WTF? The French are making Obama look bad. I hope Obama is smart enough to keep US assets out of this though. Let the Europeans do some of the heavy lifting for once. And if Obama really wanted to score some points with me he would tell people the reason the Europeans are looking at military options when they are usually such pussies about everything, is the oil in Lybia. He would then both be consistent about his stance on Iraq and in this case Lybia. Not going to happen though. How sad that the French, the people we joke about losing every war, look thougher than the US does. Guess this is more of the hope & change we were promised.
